Congratulations to the Irish film Song of the Sea, which has won the Satellite Award for Best Animation or Mixed Media Film.
The award win comes in the lead-up to the Academy Awards®, which takes place on February 22nd and at which Song of the Sea is nominated for Best Animated Feature. Song of the Sea beat fellow Oscar nomineesBig Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and The Boxtrolls in winning the Satellite Award.
The Satellite Awards are held by the International Press Association, a global media association of domestic and foreign entertainment journalists in print, TV, radio, broadcast and online outlets. Each year the IPA honours artistic excellence in the areas of Motion Pictures, Television, Radio, and New Media via the Satellite® Awards. During the ceremony, the IPA presents Satellite Awards to the best of the entertainment industry in comprehensive categories for Film, Television, DVD and New Media, often choosing the winners that will be seen in other awards show in January and February.
Song of the Sea will be released in Irish cinemas on July 10th 2015.
